Key West Jet Ski Tours
Posted by KWBlog in Key West Water Tours on April 20th, 2009
If you’ve never driven a jet ski before, not to worry. You get a mini lesson before the tour heads out. It’s so easy to drive them! You will wear a personal flotation device, and your guide will keep an eye on you and the rest of the group. Key West jet ski tours come with the option to drive a two-seater, so you can have a passenger.
The tours meet at one of two areas. One is on the south side of Key West, from the Casa Marina area. The other is from Old Town, near Mallory Square. Your Key West jet ski tour guide will lead you and the rest of the group out of Key West harbor or if you leave from the south side, across the south side of the island, going west. You will proceed into the backcountry, going north, then east along the north side of Key West. The back country is where it’s at, because there are lots of places to explore back here, including some old submarine pits that were never actually used. Most Key West jet ski tours take their group to see the sub pits, as they’re called.
Then it’s back around the east side of the island and across the south. This is where waves might get bigger, on the ocean side. But sometimes that’s what makes an Key West jet ski tour exciting: jumping the waves! In fact, you’ll see lots of jet ski riders waiting for boats passing through the harbor, so they can drive across their wakes and jump up. We told you, this is not your average Key West Tour!
Key West Parasailing
Posted by KWBlog in Key West Watersports on April 19th, 2009
Want to see Key West from a whole new angle? Key West parasailing offers a bird’s eye view of the island plus a thrilling ride as well. Fly high above the water and gaze down on rays and fish in the shallow waters surrounding the Southernmost City. Cruise around with the birds up at their level and see what they see in the clear flats waters. Get dipped if you like, for a refreshing splash up to your toes, knees, or waist. It’s up to you! Catch the gentle breezes that flow around Key West as you sit comfortably in the special seat straps designed to hold you firmly and comfortably off the Key West parasailing boat.
What is Key West parasailing, you ask? Imagine flying a kite from a boat. Instead of holding the kite line, you tie it to a bar on the back of the boat. Now, imagine there’s a set of straps forming a seat on that kite, and you’re sitting in it! That’s basically what parasailing is all about. Let the wind hold you up as your Key West parasailing captiain drives the boat to keep the line tight. He has precise control over how fast, how high, and which direction you fly at all times.
Your Key West parasailing captain also has a mate, who is responsible for getting every flyer ready to lift off. He makes sure you’re strapped in correctly to the seat harness, that you have your personal flotation device on, and that you know what is going to happen. He’ll also take pictures of you as you fly, if you want. Then you can buy the pictures from him (or her!) after the trip, for a very special souvenir. Some mates also take DVD movies of your Key West parasailing excursion. It certainly makes a much more exciting memento than a t-shirt!
Key West Sunset Cruise
Posted by KWBlog in Key West Water Tours on April 18th, 2009
You see, the sunsets in Key West are made fabulous by the fact that Key West is the westernmost island in the Florida Keys, so the sun sets completely over water. That means amazing colors, reflections, and a very distant horizon for a broad, pink sky at sunset. And when you get on a Key West Sunset Cruise, to celebrate at dusk, it’s even better. That’s because you’ll be sailing smoothly over the water next to Key West, feeling the ocean breezes in your hair, feeling the gentle motion of the schooner as it cuts the surface of the water. It’s a total experience!
Not only that, but most Key West sunset cruises will serve beer and wine, so you will absolutely melt, for the most relaxing way to end the day in Key West. Everyone aboard is there to enjoy the sunset so everyone has a great time. It’s not surprising that a Key West sunset cruise is the favorite Key West activity of so many visitors! Even locals are known to book themselves spots on the occasional Key West sunset cruise. That’s because it’s never the same twice. It’s different every night. The colors range from hot pink, citrus orange, gold, powder pinks and blues. The types of clouds make every sunset different, too. From wispy feathery clouds to heavier darker formations, each cloud makes its mark on the sunset for that evening.
Key West Glass Bottom Boat

The hull of a glass bottom boat is partially make of thick glass, so when the Key West glass bottom boat drives in 20 foot water, it looks as if the coral reef is right at your feet! In any weather you can always see coral, fish, and anything else in the neighborhood that day. Passengers on the Key West glass bottom boat have reported seeing purple sea fans, brain coral, barracudas, snapper, sea turtles, and the favorite of many, the parrot fish. Parrot fish are very colorful and large, and make up an important part of the living coral reef ecological system.
The cabin of a Key West glass bottom boat is comfortable, with AC and places to sit. Everyone from vacationers with infants to even the most senior passenger, will ride the short distance to the coral reef near Key West. It’s about five miles to the first patches of reef, where passengers can see dozens of different types of coral heads, species of fish, and even a wreck or two. The ride is smooth and relaxing, and the captain is very experienced and careful. Your guide is knowledgeable and helpfuo, and he or she has a lot to tell you about what you will see. You are in good hands, so sit back, enjoy the ride, and see the wonders of the marine world.
Duval Steet Key West
Posted by KWBlog in Duval Street on April 8th, 2009
There is always a ton of foot traffic, people on bikes and people who are very new to riding scooters so it would suggested to park your car asap and see the street on foot. The north end of Duval is right near where the cruise ships docks and so that end is over run with gift and tee-shirt shops. The middle and Southern End of duval is nice and more laid back, also more gay. There is a pier and a beach at the south end of Duval which has nice views of the sunset.
The main activities on Duval would be shopping, eating and of course drinking. There are restaurants and shops for a wide range of budgets. Staying directly or right near Duval tends to be more expensive then other areas of the island, of course.

A Key West Dolphin Tour
There are many ways to explore Key West and the seas around it. Absolutely one of nicest ways for anyone, any age, is to get booked on a Key West dolphin tour. It’s not only seeing these wonderful creatures in the wild, it’s also a day out on the water. And any day on a boat around Key West is the kind of day that makes a vacation great.
Any Key West dolphin tour will involve a pleasant boat ride to nearshore waters, either the Gulf Side or the Atlantic side, depending where these friendly creatures are hanging out that day. You will observe the dolphins but not swim with them. A lot of the Key West dolphin tours combine a dolphin tour followed by a snorkeling adventure, so you get to see the marine world too. These are amazing, beautiful creatures that are at the same time powerful swimmers and aggressive predators for food. Book yourself a seat on a Key West dolphin tour, sit back and let the guide whisk you away in Paradise to dolphin playgrounds and exciting snorkeling spots.

There really isn’t a better way to spend a day of your vacation in Key West, than to get suited up and jump into the Silent World. Explore the reef, take pictures, and learn about a whole new underwater world. The reef is just six miles from the coast of Key West, and there are some wrecks not much further out, just beyond the reef. Explore them all! Some of the favorite wrecks around Key West are Joe’s Tug, the Cayman, both within a half hour’s boat drive from the dock. Neither wreck is more than around 85 feet deep.
The reef ranges from 2 feet at Sand Key Lighthouse to the edge of the dropoff. There are wonderful specimens of coral as shallow as 15 feet, for even snorkelers to enjoy. The water is made clearer by its proximity to the Gulf Stream, which brings great visibility wherever it goes. Your Key West diving boat will include a Captain and a Dive master, and you better believe they are constantly monitoring how close the Gulf Stream is to Key West on any given day! When the Gulf Stream is close and the wind is calm, things are lookin’ good. In fact, any day spent Key West diving is more than good, it’s great!
