Key West Tours

OK, you have just one or two days in Key West. One day is for Key West watersports like snorkeling, parasailing or diving. How to see the best of Key West quickly and still have a lot of fun? Choose one of the Key West tours that run every day, all day long. There’s the Conch Train tour, the Trolley Tour, bicycle tours, walking tours, ghost tour, and cemetery tour, just to name the most well-known Key West tours.

The trolleys and conch trains are ubiquitous, which for visitors means easy and convenient. They run all the time, all day, and stop all throughout Old Town and all the most important areas in Key West. Some hotels have a stop right in front, and the trolley makes pit stops at major hotels all over Key West FL. You might feel a little silly at first, riding the Conch Train, but it’s the fastest and easiest way to cover a lot of ground in Key West, and see the island, learning a little bit about it as well.

The Key West tours that feature stop ‘n ride features let you get off the trolley and explore and area, then just hop on the next one that comes by. These are very popular, and you can get yourself all around Old Town this way. The Conch Train is more of the traditional sense of Key West Tours, where you ride along and listen to the driver/guide tell you about what you’re seeing as you roll by. You don’t get on and off these types of Key West tours. You ride, relax, look and learn…what a great way to spend and hour, and get a feel for the island. Then you can spend the rest of the day exploring parts of the tour you found most interesting. To get airline tickets to Key West ,Enter Key West International Airport (EYW) as your destination airport and get your airfare now!

Duval Steet Key West

A Bar on Duval Street

A Bar on Duval Street

Duval Street runs from north to south on the western end of Key West. It the busiest and most happening street in Key West. There are over 100 bars and as many restaurants, along with stores and various tourist traps , oops I mean attractions.

There is always a ton of foot traffic, people on bikes and people who are very new to riding scooters so it would suggested to park your car asap and see the street on foot.  The north end of Duval is right near where the cruise ships docks and so that end is over run with gift and tee-shirt shops. The middle and Southern End of duval is nice and more laid back, also more gay.  There is a pier and a beach at the south end of Duval which has nice views of the sunset.

The main activities on Duval would be shopping, eating and of course drinking.  There are restaurants and shops for a wide range of budgets. Staying directly or right near Duval tends to be more expensive then other areas of the island, of course.

Key West Snorkeling

Key West Snorkeling on the Coral Reef

Key West Snorkeling on the Coral Reef

Come see what it’s all about…the coral reef in Key West. The Florida Keys are blessed with miles and miles of reef running along the chain of islands. In Key West, the reef is a mere six miles from shore. That means for Key West snorkeling, it’s a quick trip out to a magical marine world, the coral reef system.

Snorkeling the reef means access to a very diverse set of species, which you won’t find up north or out west. Key West snorkeling offers a glimpse into an underwater ecosystem that’s totally alive with coral, tropical fish, crustaceans, sharks, eels, turtles, rays, and yes…jellyfish! But don’t worry, the jellyfish and sharks are not a problem on Key West snorkeling trips. Mostly we just see nurse sharks and moon jellyfish.

The colors of the tropical fish darting around on the reef are really spectacular. Sargeant Majors, Parrotfish, Blue Tangs, and lots of types of snapper, along with the long silvery torpedos known as barracudas, all clinging to the reef. Peek at holes, you might see a moray eel. Keep an eye ahead of you, you might see an eagle ray. If you see a shark that’s not moving, but just laying on the ocean floor with his head under a rock, it’s a nurse shark. They will not bother you, don’t be afraid.

Jacques Cousteau coined the term “Silent World” with one of his groundbreaking documentaries, and we think it’s a great term for the world we see on a typical Key West snorkeling adventure. The coral reef and the life it supports is one of the most precious things about Key West. You can see it for yourself by booking a Key West snorkeling adventure today.
